The Monastery of Mt. MacCaern
Sitting high atop the Drakespine mountains; the Monastery of Mt. MacCaern dates back to the last days of the War of the Wizard Kings. A few human assistants of fallen Wizard Kings fled to a remote, mountain top outpost. They stole what writings they could carry; in hopes of gaining some portion of the Wizard Kings power. However, the arcane tomes of the Wizard Kings proved to much for human minds to comprehend.
The runaway servants were not prepared to give up on their quest for power. They recruited what scholars they could find and began a methodical study of their collection. The original founders aged and died, as humans do. The recruits continued the work; finding recruits of their own. Parties were sent out to scout for knowledge which might be helpful to the deciphering, now called the Great Work. The ancient texts took on a semi-Divine quality and a collection of scholars evolved into a monastic order.
The order today oversees a vast collection of odd knowledge. The senior monks still pour over the ancient texts, trying to advance the Great Work.
The junior monks studying, transcribing and maintaining the monastery.
Some who know of the order say that the monks have been driven mad by their attempts to read the Glyphs that were not meant for human eyes.
